Veronica Kay, born raised in Encinitas, California, is a regular foot who loves classic rock and blues. VK has been surfing for five years and was discovered by Roxy at the 1997 NSSA championship contest, where she was rated first. Veronica loves Mexican food and her mum's home cooking. Not many 19-year-olds have seen as much of the world as Veronica has; travelling to Spain, Australia, Hawaii, France, Indonesia, Fiji, Tahiti and anywhere else that Roxy wants to send her. She truly loves surfing and especially with her friends. Veronica's favourite surfers are Lisa Andersen, Matt Hoy, Stephen Slater, Tom Curren and Gary Elkerton. Veronica has been on four Quiksilver Crossing trips on board the Indies Trader - some of the best trips of her life. Being on the road has taught Veronica a lot about life. The best advice she can offer younger girls is: "Be yourself, follow your dreams and don't be afraid to go big."

How long have you been surfing and how?:

6 Yrs. I realized it was the one thing I had never tried, and I already loved the ocean, couldn't ever get enough of it and then a friend pushed me into a wave, I stood up and rode it all the way to the stand and I haven't wanted to do anything else since.

What's your favourite thing to do to relax?:

To be at home in Encinitas in our backyard having a barbeque with my two most favourite people my brother and sister and my best friends.

What do you love most about surfing?:

The people and places it has bought me to, and I can do it all by myself.

Where is your favourite surf spot?:

Anywhere a few of my friends are out. I especially love surfing in Australia. I like G-Land but its not like I can surf it that good. The ranch is the best though!

What do you think about this latest Roxy trip?:

This trip has been amazing since the day that Megan called, and asked if I was excited. It was only 15 hours until we were going to meet in Hawaii and fly the rest of the way together. Getting to be with Lisa and go surfing with her is a dream come true. Kate is just a simple joy that always makes you smile and is always amped to go surfing. Caroline is the classic French girl, she's just 16, but she's pretty spunky. This trip has really done a lot for my confidence and desire because you see everybody ripping and it makes you want to go harder and its been rad because these are the girls that I look up to and to be able to ask them questions and get advice, it has been a real yummy treat.
